Data Collection Is Ongoing

On 18th October 2021, data collection for the assessment of clinical and mortality outcomes of the MVPE-CC started in Ghana. In Malawi, data collection started on 22nd October 2021 and Kenya started data collection, 1st November 2021. The case-control studies sought to determine the safety and effectiveness of the RTS,S/AS01 malaria vaccine in vaccinated children to complement the population-level measures of impact obtained through the WHO’s Malaria Vaccine Implementation Project. The unit supports the children’s ward of the Kintampo Municipal Hospital by processing patient samples. Also, during outbreaks such as meningitis and cholera, samples such as cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), nasopharyngeal swabs and stool are brought from within the Brong Ahafo Region for analysis.
